Our missions adventure in YWAM started in September 1996 with the Discipleship Training School (DTS) at the YWAM base Heidebeek in The Netherlands. Since then, through various missions and ministry trips, we have impacted people in 16 different countries spanning five continents!

In this Blevins update we want to stop and take a moment to celebrate twenty years in missions with you! It's a celebration of God's faithfulness and provision to us as well as a celebration of thanksgiving that He has placed YOU in our lives and ministry.

We're thankful for our home churches in Globe, Arizona and in Goes, The Netherlands and for you our friends and family who have made it possible for us to serve in missions these 20 years.

Above all, we're thankful to God that He has been with us and brought us to so many places to minister to and with so many, different people.

Church planting, language learning, preparation for living in a different culture were some of the subjects in our SOFM that helped prepare us for working among the Muslims in Bosnia-Hercegovina.

Bosnia-Hercegovina 2000 - 2003

Ministering in refugee camps: house visits, clowning and shoebox distribution.
In Bosnia, Jolanda worked in a Muslim orphanage. We brought many outreach teams there to feed the babies, change them and just to love on them and pray for their future.
In 2001, we were foster parents for a Bosnian baby for almost six months. We named him Tomas. He was adopted by American missionaries to Bosnia and in 2013 came with his family for a visit here in Colorado Springs.
Visits to the villages were the best cultural experiences, eating roasted goat and drinking very strong "kava", Turkish-style coffee.
Even back then in Bosnia, we were already in involved in Business as Mission.
Helping ladies get started making quilts for a living.
In 2002, Rodney's dream of opening up an internet cafe became a reality. We were able to provide jobs to several young adults including two orphans who were 18 or older and needed to find a job.

Our "[email protected]é" had a cafe area with the best cappuccinos ever and an internet part. Rodney was able to train two young men to run the internet part.

YWAM Heidebeek, Netherlands 2003 - 2013

Besides working with the YWAM Heidebeek Communication team (pictured above) Rodney was communication assistant to the director of YWAM Europe and was later the leader of the Communication team for YWAM Europe, EuroCom.
At Heidebeek Jolanda was involved for many years with Missionary Care for our own missionaries at Heidebeek and also debriefing missionaries from the field.
Heidebeek runs many training courses and Jolanda was often a mentor to international students who would come to the base.

Worship Ministry Throughout the Years

Teaching at Worship Schools and Seminars, Romania and India
Street evangelism in the Czech Republic. 1998.
Leading worship at National Conferences in The Netherlands.

Budapest, Hungary

In Budapest, we worked with the YWAM Team for Central Europe, 2010 - 2011.
During our time in Budapest, the kids were homeschooled by teachers from The Netherlands and Sarah went to a local Hungarian kindergarten.
In 2011 Rodney had the honor of being ordained as a minister into the Pentecostal Church of God. What a blessing!

Colorado Springs 2013 - Present

In May 2013, we got the key to our new house in Colorado Springs. In these 20 years, we have moved 8 times and lived in four different countries! (This is our first time owning a house.)
Since January 2013, we work with a small, international YWAM team, YWAM360.
Since October 2015, Rodney has been working part-time with a local company, Zippersnap. Zippersnap is an expression of YWAM's "Business as Mission" here in Colorado Springs.
Jolanda is working in Member Care to offer advice, training and provide help to the missionaries on the field and here in Colorado. She is part of the YWAM Colorado Member Care team and has many contacts with Member Care North America.
To start off our month of celebration of 20 years in missions, we went to an international YWAM gathering in Kansas City, MO. It was a great time of networking, fellowshipping and hearing from God about how we as YWAM can be more involved in the seven spheres of society, government, education, family, arts & entertainment, media, commerce and religion.

We were together with more than 3000 YWAMers! It was wonderful to reconnect with so many that we have ministered with over the last 20 years.

Looking Forward...

The length of this update quickly got out of hand and there were even more photos we wish would could share with you. Photos of baptisms in the "Bosna" river or when we co-led a DTS outreach to Budapest, Bosnia and Croatia. Maybe those are for our 40 year update!

We have taken a look back but we also are looking forward to what God wants to do through us for those around us.

We want to thank you for your faithful support these last 20 years and also for continuing to pray for and give to the work to which God has called us.

Blessings,
Rodney, Jolanda, Lisa and Sarah
